ENJOY THE VIDEO
What a peculiar habit to cover mirrors when there is lightning. I'd love to know the lore behind that. Was she afraid the mirror would catch the devil lightning? Thanks for sharing this with us. One of my true enjoyments in art is learning such things from others!
ReplyDeleteHappy you dropped by Bev. You know i never knew the superstition behind it. ☺

That's interesting. I never heard of that before. Lots of people usedto cover mirrors here when someone had died. Love your art as always. Happy PPF, hugs, Valerie

I've not heard of anyone covering mirrors during a thunderstorm. Is it an old superstition? I enjoyed the artwork, Gillena. :)
ReplyDeleteOMG - what an interesting and full of excitement and pretty art filled posting!
ReplyDeleteI love your collage - so impressive and the lovely painting remembering your grandmother! Never heard about this but my granny had also some unbelievable rituals - I think they were more to the mind and souls as we use to be today! There is nearly no single day that I don'tI think of my Grandmother Marie - I think I am very similar to her, maybe that's the reason! With your mirror story you brought light and my Granny into my heart this morning! Thank you dear Gillena! I wish you a wonderful weekend and happy start into June! You are such a sweetheart to support our Moo Mania & More challenge in such an artful way each week! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Big hugs,
Susi

This continuation brings sweet memories to me. I can see my grandmother do the same thing as it started to thunder. She always said to us: Stay away from the window!
