each awakening
strong bones of morning sunlight
prop these covid days

about those bones
tree branches hold tightly to
some of the light

ask of yesterday
why again must the bones of
rising day rattle

in the songs of birds
some familiar tarsals
flesh fragrance to buds

What a lovely response to the prompt! I like each so much, can't pick a favourite.

Very intriguing work indeed, GC. Like the opening lines best, but all's good. Salute.

I really enjoy the image of tree branches holding tightly to some of the light.

I like them all, but the first haiku is my favorite. There is so much going on in those words, so many questions (and probably answers) in that rattle...

Bones are always a good example of our mortality as Covid has the world in it's grip. It's probably a lesson for us to behave a little better with our Earth!

I like the way the bones hold the first three haiku together like a skeleton, Gillena, and love the ‘strong bones of morning sunlight’ and the branches that ‘hold tightly to some of the light’.

If the branches hold tightly to the light, will there be enough left over for us?
