BLOG HOPPING TODAY WITH

NOTE: I Calypso tents in Trinidad, emerging in the 1920s, were traditional venues for calypsonians to perform social commentary and picong during the Carnival season

The first commercial tent was organized by Walter "Railway Douglas" in 1921 in Port of Spain.

Notable early venues included The Old Brigade, The Original Young Brigade, and the World's Fair Calypso Tent (later the Commando Tent).

Despite Carnival being cancelled from 1942–1945 due to World War II, tents stayed open, providing social commentary and entertainment

Went to a dot art workshop

  5. I've never done dot art either. It looks like it was a lot of fun. And I can't wait for hummingbirds to return to my area. I put my feeder out yesterday, so your art piece is perfect for Mia's challenge. Thanks for joining in. Have a great Sunday and start to the new week. hugs-Erika

  10. Stunning vintage postcard. Nice dot art, Really impressive first attempt. LOVED the non-traditional steel drum music. And that's another great bird for Mia's theme at AJJ.

  14. That's a great vintage collage -- so full of interesting details and visuals!

And oh, I want to take a dot art class so bad! I signed up for one and it got cancelled for lack of interest. But the next one I wanted to sign up for was so packed with students, I couldn't get in! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that maybe I'll succeed in going to such a class in the fall or winter. In the meantime, I look forward to seeing whatever you create in your class!
