After World War II and the presence of US military bases, discarded industrial 55-gallon oil drums became readily available to creative hearts and hands and so today, there is the steel pan, the only major acoustic musical instrument invented in the 20th century. ENJOY THE MUSIC

Love the music. Those cloud shots are so different. Several great haikus today, especially "steel pan day." What a wonderful music inspired summertime entry you gave us for Erika's theme at AJJ. Happy AFFF and FFO, too.

I really liked that banana fronds haiku. I can even hear them...And your summer fun piece is great. Dancing is always fun, but outdoors and in the summer when you get all hot...it's a great memory for me. (Even though I still dance around the house.:) ) Thanks for linking up at AJJ and have a super Friday and start to your weekend. hugs-Erika

This is such a joyful post. I love that first piece of art. Interesting about after ww2 and the oil drums. Your Haiku are always so beautiful. I do enjoy seeing what your meals are too. Thank you for joining FFO and have a very nice weekend.

Oh wow, Gillena! I love your beautiful photos, especially the sky and clouds—they look amazing. My favorite part of your post is the fun and fabulous digital art about summer! The dancing couple, vintage feel, and monochrome colors—everything about it is wonderful! Thank you!! Hugs, Sharon
ReplyDeleteI hope you had great success telling stories from your book. Happy Friday dear Gillena

Very interesting, Gillena. I had heard of steel drums before, but somehow steelpans escaped me. I have always enjoyed exuberant steel drum music. Love the photo of you sharing your books! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your "summer fun" digital layout, Gillena, and -of course- your haiku.
ReplyDeleteThank you for another entry to AJJ, my friend.
