fading dreams -
a flower wilting
stirs a tear
bright the gold -
albeit somewhere passion
stirs a tear
future days -
achievement in hope stored
stirs a tear
gratitude -
our bronze replete
stirs a tear

Sunday Lime 1
Congrats to Keshorn Walcott, T&T's only medalist [Bronze] in this 2016 Olympics. And; it's closing time this Sunday, for the Olympics 2016. Happy, sad, determined, satisfied, fired up: all these emotions add to the pot of expectations being already stirred to 2020 Tokyo. Cheers!

As voyeurs we watch expectantly then find not all our nation's hopes to achieve is possible and sigh "Not another four years to wait!"
ReplyDeleteYou remind us of both the fragility and joyful moments in life - to raise a tear seems to me to be full of life - a peaceful Sunday to you :)

ReplyDeleteA clever mix of poetry and sport, though the first haiku really stands out - wonderful. The sadness is there, and makes emotional reading.

Yes, I suspected so, that human emotions pick up this somewhat tiny deed and claim it as their own, this rare and beautiful victory that reveals true power! The depth of your expression is moving and magic. I hope your poem travels far.
