Some environmentalists have grown critical of Earth Day, particularly those in the Bright green environmentalism camp. They charge that Earth Day has come to symbolize the marginalization of environmental sustainability, and that the celebration itself has outlived its usefulness

  1. A difficult one that. A friend of mine has written a poem about Earth Day, but in reverse, as her grandmother in Baghdad has only ONE hour of electricity and it is always almost at 430am when she'd rather be sleeping.

  2. Earth Day (2008-04-22) here in Edmonton, Canada was celebrated by the ending of a 5-day snow storm. By late afternoon over a foot of snow had fallen, the Sun had come out, and the snow was beginning to melt.
