yet grey the dawn
i hear you Kiskadee
announcing day

like the damp of dewdrops
on morning's whispered sighs

turrets of greyscale
you liven from the colours
of your early songs

Sunday savvy looks back today to April 23rd of the week just gone, the 450th birthday of William Shakespeare (1564 – 1616)
Ever been "in a pickle" or had "too much of a good thing"? Perhaps friends have "eaten (you) out of house and home" or had you "in stitches" over a joke. These are just a handful of well-used sayings that come courtesy of Shakespeare READ MORE HERE

PONDERING DESERTS

pondering deserts
still early in the season -
His temptation

who wouldn't
left in a wilderness turn
stone into bread

yet He didn't
for beyond the mirage lay
the greater oasis

the deserts cling
only if when we grasp at
cold barren dust

vain promises
shudder into phantoms -
'fore hope of glory

still deserts teem
with the hoof of humped creatures
spices and cloths

trade and wanderings
after men blood and gore
surrender to peace
