...According to the "Anxi" theory, oolong tea had its origin in the Anxi oolong tea plant, which was discovered by a man named Sulong, Wulong, or Wuliang.
Another tale tells of a man named Wu Liang (later corrupted to Wu Long, or Oolong) who discovered oolong tea by accident when he was distracted by a deer after a hard day's tea-picking, and by the time he remembered to return to the tea it had already started to oxidize.

Recuerda Mi Corazon haiku my heart "vacation memoir"
Beautiful, I heard of this, I think I drank me, me, drinking tea? You have great influence on me, my dear Gillena
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post, and most interesting to learn the origins of Oolong! Still, I must confess I prefer Coffee! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI think I know the oolong tea though I've not tasted it beofre.
ReplyDeleteOolong is the only tea I like. A Japanese art instructor introduced me to it. Nice post of background info.
ReplyDeleteThe linocut is beautiful ~ wondering if you did it ?
ReplyDeleteAlso lovely haiku related to tea ~ tea ceremony is also very spiritual ~ Wonderful post and photos ~ Happy Weekend ~ xoxo

for today's piece i started with a blank document, tried dirrerent colours, then chose the background colour and filled it. Then did cut outs and used different filters, to distort the shapes, in the final 3 takes i used an effect called 'magic mirror' for the final result

I like the way you linked each stanza to the next with a crafty use of repetition. I'm sure I would not be able to resist a bamboo box of Oolong tea in a quaint English shop either.
ReplyDeleteWonderful poems, I love the creativity in this composition!

adore how you "steeped" the Beetles in the middle of this fine poem :)
ReplyDelete… "BeAtles" ;)
ReplyDeleteI like reading of things people have discovered. I hadn't heard of the oolongs or the like. Google will help me. Of course I liked and still do the Beatles.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't everyone? Being from the U.K. and settling London I imagine they've drunk a lot of tea. BTW, Ringo Star is coming to Houston soon to do a concert.
