looking a while back -
a faint line of horizon
dividing blues
those hungry seagulls
what would your mothers say
gobbling down food
stony beaches -
clear inviting waters still
lure the bathers

It is in the 50s and raining here,
ReplyDeleteI could def go for the beach. I have a feeling that
the gulls have a little different rules for table
manners. Lol.
Have a good Sunday as well g.

Happy Sunday Gillena :D
Lots of love,

I would definitely enjoy being in the water at the beach more than lying on its stony shore. Smiles.

This is wonderful, and I can easily relate to "a faint line of horizon/ dividing blues". Aha...That is the beauty of your poetry. It is so real. Just great stuff! Love Gillena.

LOVE the second one. I can almost see the speaker shaking her head (and perhaps her fist) at an unruly pack of birds with terrible manners. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappiest Sunday!
Thank you for your appreciation Magaly

Ah the blue line and hungry gulls--there are no blues on this inviting day. Is the title a year? a place? How far back can you remember?
ReplyDeleteAh time and its vastness. Thanks for your appreciation Susan

The sea is a constant fascination and a boon for storytellers and poets. Even though you haven't been there for some time time it continues to lure you back with more stories to tell.
ReplyDeleteHappy you dropped in Robin

ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it James

These are lovely. The first, I thought, particularly layered and nuanced.
ReplyDeleteAh! Beach time! Today I saw some seagulls soaring high above... far from the beach. Just like me.
ReplyDeleteEven with the almost hurricane, the beach would not be friendly but I could still def enjoy it. Gulls have their own etiquette as given by Mrs. Vandergull...smiles. Like all the stanzas! Spencer is Kanzensakura

Happiness of having dinner together may well be spoiled by some unsavory conducts of youngsters. Truly said Gillena!

1767 hmm intersting #. We were just at the beach a couple of weeks ago... It's my husband's happy place. But it has rained nonstop here for over a week now, and that's my happy place.
ReplyDeleteThis poem makes me hungry. Must be the seagulls.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you.

Used to live close to the shore of Lake Michigan. Your words brought back some very good memories,
ReplyDeleteElizabeth
Lovely poem.
ReplyDeleteInteresting perception about the horizon! Again I love the evocation of your home, which I am sure I would enjoy too.
ReplyDeleteLike reflection, 'those hungry seagulls ' line resonates ...and the way to come back, to revisit still open? then why to wait?
