THIRD PLANET FROM THE SUN:
an Earth Day Haiku Collaboration

this is island Earth
we need to learn its rhythms
live on island time

"in the beginning..."
the first view of our Mother
leaves us without words

For shame, for shame...
hibernation
mama bear wakes
to two gunshots

city dandelions
nature will not
be denied
--Ardelle Ray, USA

❧✿❧

How tiny earth is
How big the naked ape's mind
Will he destroy this globe?

horses wandering
green and untouched prairie plains
munch blooming flowers

monarch butterflies
fluttering across the yard
Is spring here so soon?
--Chelle Baratta-Angelini, USA

❧✿❧

spring puddle
my puppy learns
the word jump
--Chrissi Villa, USA

❧✿❧

bird watching. . .
around a new stump
tiny trees
--Djurdja Vukelic-Rozic, Croatia

❧✿❧

Earth Day
without the missiles and
of refugees
--Gennady Nov, Russia

❧✿❧

clear day
clouds of Sahara Dust -
a rain mirage

concrete silhouettes -
lingering orange sunset
in span of earth's spin

put an end to this
bombs used to hurt each other -
let peace reign instead
[also posted to The Haiku Foundation- Earthrise rolling collaborative haiku 2017]

...

aged grey -
the brick wall where
three grackles rest

...

Champs-Elysées ~
fresh wounds to planet Earth
only peace can heal
--gillena cox; Trinidad and Tobago

❧✿❧

busy city street -
blackbird sings
regardless
--Juliet Wilson, UK

❧✿❧

all round the earth
enjoying colors and perfumes
I feel at home
--Nicole Pottier, France

❧✿❧

Mother Nature's garb
in tatters from abuse...
needs an Earth Day mend

...

Mother Nature
in her greenest garb...
Earth Day
--Pat Geyer, USA

Earth day
Loving
Our mother
--Shanna Baldwin, Hawaii

full moon
a tree silhouette
holds the last star

spring rain
each leaf
a moon bath
--Vibeke Laier, Denmark

  11. Wonderful collaboration, gillena! It goes to show we are very much taken up and are affected by things around us. In normal circumstances, these occurrings might just be ignored otherwise.
