slow pace of Sundays -
an ant crawls between newsprint
lost to many worlds

The rains are quietly slipping in mostly by night drizzles; not enough for cool days, just enough to tease.

The idea that an ant crawling on a newspaper is actually an ant lost among many worlds is a very clever image as I imagine it might feel that way to the ant!!

I love this poem, with its solitary ant ambling along......our sun just came out after a rainy spring and the entire village is overrun by both locals and a kazillion tourists, just like an anthill that got disturbed.......LOL.
ReplyDeleteOh that's a nice image of your village. Thanks for dropping in Sherry

Hi Gillena, I like the image of ant, feeling maybe as a stranger on the typing field of newspaper...This way I'm feeling now trying to invent a new way for myself... Thanks for friendly comments!

ReplyDeleteNo doubt the ant is a scout for his tribe ... and they'll all be along shortly! Love the thought of the teasing rains.
Happy you dropped by Bev

Love the ant reading the newspaper ~ sweet haiku about Sunday ~ thanks for visiting ~
ReplyDeleteHappy Week ahead to you ~ ^_^
I do not see the ant, although I looked for it, foolishly no doubt. And our rains are the same, slipping in and out by night, leaving little. Love the Basho. Happy Day!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a clever haiku, Gillena. Your pieces always give me thoughtful pause. And I very much enjoyed the Basho haiku.
ReplyDeleteThe aunt made me think of the news that is not judged important enough to make it to the front page, and gets lost in the mess of bigger words...
ReplyDeleteI love the image of the ant on the newspaper.
ReplyDeleteThe slow pace of Sunday - nice...bkm
ReplyDeleteAren't we all ants lost and trying to follow the words?

Love the thought that newspaper print is a super highway for ants...
ReplyDeleteWow! These are some serious and beautiful works.

Such is Sunday. Very nice drift.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to that ant - enjoying the slow pace of Sunday. Lovely Gillena.
ReplyDeleteI feel like an ant these days when looking a the paper with just so much newsprint but hardy anything to read.
ReplyDeleteLove that image of an ant on newspaper, Smiles to you!
ReplyDeleteMay I trail along behind the ant?
ReplyDeleteClever and evocative, Gillena. I love the contrast of a lazy Sunday reading the paper and an industrious ant crawling in the news.
ReplyDeleteHappy you dropped in Carol

When I see a busy ant crawling along, often with a heavy load, I compare their population on earth to the human population in our gargantuis universe.
ReplyDeleteNice haiku/Senryu. .

Our spirits would be lighter if we left the news to the ants.
ReplyDeleteants r us in the avalanche of news.
