the opened window
i sketch my mind to canvas
the colours of sky
looking down on
blushing poinsettias cause
it's December
when the lore of red
smothers even the sunsets
seeped of November
memories of leaves
tired of clinging trees so
they wing on the wind

Watching the moon is a great thing to do without a face mask, Gillena! You have reminded me of ‘blushing poinsettias’, flowers I haven’t seen in a long while. Very Christmassy!

The leaves may have gone but deciduous trees decide to have a break over winter after giving birth to all her children.

Very positively responsive work(s), GC. Not sure i could do 100 mask haiku, but your successful effort is laudable!

I love how the facemask lines made my head tilt :)
ReplyDeleteGillena, these are both lovely! The bare face to the moon and the red of the season running over itself capture the private peace & overwhelming celebration of this season really well.

The moon is excellent company. The same goes for resilient leaves that hang on for a while... before dancing in the wind... towards something new and (one hopes) better...
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday, Gillena.

I liked your Haiku foursome, I would name it (maybe) "Come December". My favorite line was "memories of leaves" because even when the leaves are gone our mind easily puts them back for us to see it dressed. Unless it's a Zombie Tree.
ReplyDelete..
Life with mask is hard.
ReplyDeleteGood to watch the moon without it!
there is such a sense of freedom and serenity in your haiku. loved it!
