SUNDAY SMILES

BLOG HOPPING TODAY WITH

Writers’ Pantry #53: The Bicentenary of Anne Brontë’s Birth

 ANNE BRONTË  - A Reminiscence

 (With my highlights for a found haiku)

 Yes, thou art gone and never more

Thy sunny smile shall gladden me;

But I may pass the old church door

And pace the floor that covers thee;

May stand upon the cold, damp stone,

And think that frozen lies below

The lightest heart that I have known,

The kindest I shall ever know.

Yet, though I cannot see thee more

'Tis still a comfort to have seen,

And though thy transient life is o'er

'Tis sweet to think that thou hast been;

To think a soul so near divine,

Within a form so angel fair

United to a heart like thine

Has gladdened once our humble sphere.

  2. Looks like mask-wearing is going to be a part of our lives for quite a while, so they may as well be brightly colored!

  17. If we have to wear masks, we might as well make them bloom!

    Very nice, to offer Anne Brontë a tribute of her own words.

    Happy Sunday, Gillena.

  22. Excellent writings Gillena. I especially liked the image of the color covered mouths on the white sears — beautiful. Engages one to think. I am pleased to join in at P&SU in this new year. Hope it’s a good one for all
