Thursday 11th February was my Birthday.

Tis once again my month, of sometimes 28, sometimes 29 days, but always my birthday appears, so too Valentines Day and there is Carnival

The Lord is my strength, my shield,

my heart puts its trust in Him;

Psalm 28:7

What's there to smile about today? Thank God for the grace of poetry

a wintery  night
the depth of shivers before -
a warm counterpane

black lace -
enough holes for heartbreak

better a pet;  a black cat

  4. Loved the mask poem--an extra layer of trying to navigate a muffled world. And the cat poem made me sigh.

  5. LOL, I've had similar troubles in grocery stores too. I'm always fascinated by the patterns and designs on masks. I wish I wasn't allergic to cats. I rather like them otherwise. And I know my corgi actually really likes cats.

  15. The "black lace" haiku is magnificent. So much being told so clearly in such few words.

    And the mask one made me grin. I've been there (more than once).

    Happy Sunday, Gillena.

  24. Gillena, your liberal spreading of "black" instills a special feeling towards your parties.
    I hope you will forgive me today, I was practicing writing, bad job though, Gothic Fiction Poetry.
