Earthquakes must be really frightening to live through. I have never experienced them. Cracks in the walls would be disconcerting, but always good to have some tea.
nice that you have written another 'bridge' poem, Gillena. I cannot for a second imagine what an earthquake must feel like. Do you get them where you live?
Very cool puente. I have been through a few earthquakes, here, on the West Coast of Canada. They are usually small, though one on Vancouver Island (years ago) was so strong I woke up became everything started shaking in a dream I was having. That was weird.
Earthquakes are indeed sudden and unexpected things. We had a small jolt not long ago. Six point something is a pretty hefty shaking though. Love the photo you have with this.
Earthquakes are like reminders that our traditional belief in the earth as a rock solid foundation may not be so rock solid as we would like it to be. Lovely poems.
Earthquakes are definitely not my favorite of the "unexpecteds"! We only get rumblings and shakings here in Maine periodically. My dog doesn't like them!
hoping that rumble doesnt knock too many pictures off the walls...but i guess that is better than knocking buildings down though...
ReplyDeletei take my tea as earl grey...just a dash of sugar....
