all weights and measures -
labels jostle attention
colours seek to please
glimpse of strawberries -
light bounces off clear plastic
from grocery store lanes

I bought some strawberries today and added them to my spinach salad. They were delicious.
ReplyDeleteStrawberries always seem to growing somewhere in Australia so they are rarely out of the shops. One of the advantages of living in the "Big Country"!
ReplyDeleteI bought some big, organic strawberries. Yesterday. Yum.
ReplyDeleteLove the cheerfulness you bring in you writing. Thank you Gillena and I hope you had a great day.
I also had strawberries from the store, boxed in plastic. How could I pass them by!?
ReplyDeleteAren't those strawberries...all neatly wrapped with the light shining off the plastic....glorious and tempting? Mmm. I can't wait to go buy some myself :-)
ReplyDeletestrawberries are not available in our place though we get plenty of food with strawberry flavor but not the fruit...last year one of my colleagues planted strawberry but mosquitoes played havoc with it...we're waiting this season...lets see what happens..your poem makes me long for those luscious items :)

ReplyDeleteStrawberries grow here in Florida, but they are ripe in February and March ... Now it is too hot and they are gone until next year. But when we travel to Oregon on the pacific coast in June they will just be getting ripe there. So we wait!
