with prayerful glances skyward -

Carpe Diem #961 prayers for rain
...praying for rain isn't very real, but ages back there were cultures who used to pray for rain through, for example a so called "rain-dance" as (for example) did the American Natives, Indians.
Praying for rain was also seen in the Japanese culture and there are several haiku about praying for rain and rain dances...[excerpt courtesy Carpe Diem]

Thankful for his music; RIP Prince
Thank you for the tribute to Prince. Our rock heroes live on in their music, and we are lucky to be living in a time when we can access it whenever we need it.

Thank you Gillena for this tribute. Prince's death made me very sad. Perhaps because each loss connects too other losses. His song "Purple Rain" always makes me cry. Not sure why.

Great tribute to Prince.
ReplyDeleteThere is an unreality to it all at the moment.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful post. Your tribute: simple and eloquent ... the best kind of remembrance.
ReplyDeleteI like the contrast between the purple rain and the drought and the meaning behind it in this context.
ReplyDeleteThe death of icons of our past especially those younger than ourselves remind us of our own mortality. Let's hope though we may not be so lauded others will remember us with affection too.
