if the rain comes
soaking dry bones and boughs
window splatter
drawn curtains
the first drizzle
smell of parched
dry earth
this teasing teasing few drops
a child can count the raindrops
will the coming June
open generous bounty
to quench crawling ants
earthworms unseen they must be deeply asleep
still slumbering .. earthly sweet
........Caladiums .. know the answer

Who doesn't know this feeling? :)
Something all of us can relate to. Beautiful.

I do hope you soon get the rain you are longing for. I am sure that the earthworms will like it.
I could smell the rain. You made it come alive.
You have eloquently sketched a scene of nature – parched – and then a hopeful note: the, still slumbering, Caladiums. Lovely!

You have captured so well the feeling of waiting for rain... I am sure the earthworms will be pleased as well.
Oh, the waiting ... we wait with such impatience, but the earthworms and flowers wait in a quiet suspension ... and then burst forth. You've created good tension in this piece ...
