The remaining stump.. Is so important too.. Lots of life depends on dead wood
And even we may feed the worms. Not much is wasted on earth except time.
I feel for that remaining tree stump ~
remnants of that sentinel....
what a view he had eh?
makes me wonder what cut him down...
Seeing a tree stump often makes me sad. I think of a life ended too soon & in a violent way. I think of all that was lost.
trees attract rain laden clouds... in their absence the clouds will drift away...
Even the old stump sees things that many humans miss!

fitting haiku for the residual stump.
The stump reminds me of "The Giving Tree' by Shel Silverstein. It is still giving- providing a seat for those who need one. That's a mighty big shadow it has.
I love old stumps. They are such a good place to rest.

"observing clouds" what a thought! :)
This is lovely!
It is always sad, even poignant, to see a tree that is no more.

What a lovely photo and haiku, if only that tree stump could tell us stories of all that it has seen transpire under the clouds!
Even without the words, the photo says a lot.

That tree stump would have seen so much... And would be feeling alone... Missing its family... They make me sad...
