Weekly Scribblings #30: Writing as a Metaphor for Living
prompted by Magaly
DAY TO DAY
Each stanza of a poem applauds allusion,
For what is poetry, if not to be slowly savored
Like cherries plucked from an aged prickly tree
Long after the curtain comes down heavy, soft,
Silent, in velvet folds of meticulous grammar;
Call it fiction, for it becomes the stuff of dreamers,
No one wants the responsibility of reality;
The conflict is too great, the mood not right
For dying stars in dawn's pace of morning's rhythm
Edit the plot from dirge to sonnet where conflict
Of lovers and passion refuse the prose of politics
Word by word, step by step, day to day it's punctuation
