2011 photo - "crossing the waters to Chacachacare Island"

akin to new sites...
a novel eagerly read
draws us to this quest

vastness of the azure sky
a pirogue skims the waters

in the far distance
the much talked about lighthouse...
sea spray undaunting

Today's note - observation

Some times groups of haijin would go on a walk(ginko) with the uppermost purpose of observing and writing haiku. Haiku is not only the recording of a chance instant. Purposeful contemplation is also an activity of haiku

I invite you to share some of your expertise on observation with me

Thank you Doug for

haiku leaf
falls from the writer's pen
on the wind

__On this forest walk, seeing what others do not; this one... of many.
