I had to look up pelau, and found that it is a dish of rice and pigeon peas with beef or chicken, and sometimes with pumpkin. Does this describe the pelau you make, Gillena?

No they are not, they are pigeon peas.

For the garbanzo beans also called chick peas, here we say channa
