Frustration

image is from...

Where it not for my christian catholic ethic; i feel certain that i when i die, i would morph instantly into a superheroine; glamorous shapley and such a powerhouse of rage against the bad guys; swooping down without mercy, tearing them limb by limb, and binding them into chains of never ending release; without thoughts of societal ills, and poverty, and abuse and whatever else excuses are rendered for crime in today's world

Instead here i am, in the mind set of, the very difficult task of forgiveness and the hope of; peace on earth; and eternal life, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc...

what is causing this mini rant you might ask; yesterday right in front of my house a young man snatched my purse and ran off; leaving me fallen, and bruised; a stranger took me in his car to the police station; all this time i'm screaming my head off tears streaming down my face i get to the station and i'm out of breath and in having an anxiety attack; took a while before i could even give a report to the police

void of frustration between
the salt of my tears

Zen

had my mango tree of (so many years) cut down to a bear minima; so i thought i should sing its ode here
Before i had that tree planted there were guava trees in that spot; guavas, another delicious and versatile caribbean fruit
So any which ways, i'm now taller than my mango tree, and i wont be eating mangos from my tree for a long while, it will take some time to regenerate. Some believe that a mango tree can grant wishes... maybe so maybe not, one thing i can attest to is the friendship coordination of this delicious fruit. When i was growing up, sharing food was a gesture of friendship, compassion and love. One of the first foods we shared as children was not the store bought snack of today's world, but rather, a mango chow, having rummaged through our mother's kitchen for whatever herbs we could salvage to toss in.
The green or near ripe mango, rough chopped after being peeled, was tossed in a bowl, with salt, lime juice, garlic and pepper; then what ever else we can put our hand on, we tossed in, and then had a good ole time dipping into the bowl and eating our chow; back then the equation was, mango chow equalled strong strong friendship.
Tomorrow in many homes this delicious fruit will be culinarized in all of its facets within the celebration of the Festival of Lights

Trick or Treat

image from...
one of the historical links to the origins of halloween is the Celtic festival of Samhain The festival of Samhain celebrates the end of the "lighter half" of the year and beginning of the "darker half", and is sometimes regarded as the "Celtic New Year"

The ancient Celts believed that the border between this world and the Otherworld became thin on Samhain, allowing spirits (both harmless and harmful) to pass through. The family's ancestors were honoured and invited home while harmful spirits were warded off. It is believed that the need to ward off harmful spirits led to the wearing of costumes and masks. Their purpose was to disguise oneself as a harmful spirit and thus avoid harm.

The word Halloween is first attested in the 16th century and represents a Scottish variant of the fuller All-Hallows-Even ("evening"), that is, the night before All Hallows Day.

Black and orange are the traditional Halloween colors and represent the darkness of night and the color of bonfires, autumn leaves, and jack-o'-lanterns
