I have never thought of that sound.. but the claws on mailbox has to be very specific music.

Oh! It is the same sound that mail makes after the mail-person opens the box. I would run to the window in either case, delighted to see either. Wonderful haiku! Fine picture.
That loud deep sound acting as a contrasting note to the light touches of the rain - I can hear them all now.
Ah, the peace of listening to the rain...and then, gasp, mention of the race to Christmas! :)
