this novelty in turning
no dog-eared pages

in my solitude
the wide television screen
wins from me a smile

the choice of romance
where no stars wear the mask -
the new old movies

I too like the oldie shows and movies playing now. The make me smile also.
Note: This was not me in my poem. It was a fictitious older daughter come back home to live.

I try not to classify some of my faves as "old' movies, since so many of them were made when/after I was born. Reading your work, here, makes me smile, though.

Over the years, our taste in movies has changed and we find that we most enjoy the "old" movies which emphasize character and story and have few distractions. Just a really good story.
