about yesterday
will an apology of
leaves falling suffice

i looked on
crying silent tears

How easy it was to visualise all the scenes in your verses. I especially loved the first as the reference to the wearing a face mask automatically dates the poem to the Covid crisis.

Nice to think that we can still experience scents. I always like to have rosemary growing (because of my name, and also for its qualities including scent).

Lovely. Rosemary was one of the things we lost in the last frost--looking forward to new plants scenting the backyard. :)

Dreamy. And my mind got stuck on that bare branch.

The scent of rosemary stayed with me through the lovely verses.

I love the observations of the leaves, and the watcher's tears. Melancholy.

Yes Rosemary and rain that's what is happening outside right now. Have a great day.

the repetition works so well and the final stanza is impressive
"leaving behind a sign
the naked mind sees only
a bare branch now"

If you can smell the rosemary, it means you probably don't have covid, so that's always lovely.

I wonder what transpired between them and if they will reconcile. I also really like your haiga (sp?) at the top.

Scent, wetness, sigh, tears lend the poem an exquisite beauty.

I bet there were a thousand scents or more. From the aroma filled plants like your rosemary to musty wet leaves, all bring forth the feeling of spring.

Thanks for your appreciation Joel. In my clime, here in Trinidad and Tobago, there is no Spring, there are just 2 Seasons. The Dry Seadon and The Rainy Season ☺

I like the inclusion of rosemary. It gives some imagery of the scent, and rosemary also signifies remembrance -- remembering the way things used to be, before almost everyone was wearing face masks.
