Forever i will sing the goodness of the Lord

[Psalm 89]

Today is the Second Sunday of this New Year 2022

AND

is also observed as The Feast of The Baptism of The Lord

The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, or Theophany, is the feast day commemorating the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Originally the baptism of Christ was celebrated on Epiphany, which commemorates the coming of the Magi

What's there to smile about today? Thank God for the grace of poetry

BONGO SPEAK - A DOUBLE TROIKU
slapping tapping
skins resound to conflicts in
the human soul
❧✿❧
slapping tapping
these echoes transport to
an inner world

skins resound to conflicts in
love and loss
passions and gain

the human soul
finding this balm lathers thick
rhythm's curve

slapping tapping
these echoes transport to
an inner world
❧✿❧
slapping tapping
this connection of angst
not knowing where

these echoes transport to
deep deep within
filling nadir

an inner world
feeds the longing rising in
surface ripples

skins resound to conflicts in
love and loss
passions and gain
❧✿❧
skins resound to conflicts in
present day terms
in yesterday's dreams

love and loss
clinging to own center stage
these age old players

passions and gain
who wins who loses who fights
and lives fighting

the human soul
finding this balm lathers thick
rhythm's curve
❧✿❧
the human soul
alive with feelings carry
the torch of hope

finding this balm lathers thick
feathers  well preened
flight preparing

rhythm's curve
 absorbs creates absolves
agendas new

Your poem speaks of bongo playing in such a deeper way. This is lovely and made me feel like I could hear them playing in the background as the words flowed.

I would really love to hear this spoken aloud, the lines creating new understanding over the rhythm of the drum.

I see a group, bongos at the ready, seated round a roaring campfire, reciting/chanting your poetry over and over and over. Well done.

Simply beautiful Gillena. James Dean was certainly a tortured soul. I was so in love with him.
