no summers
just Caribbean breezes
no winters either
fallen blossoms
on the paved walk
leaf cutter ants
they have a mind of their own
carrying cuttings
some faithful ladies arrange
vases for their church altar
automatic doors -
the intimated welcome
to grocery shoppers
