Sunday Muse #128

where have they all gone -
winged in bright orange hues
maybe to the moon

to garner footsteps
left in the precious dirt
daring ancestors

there are no footprints on the moon

"footsteps
left in the precious dirt
daring ancestors" -- that's great.

That initial haiku...just lovely. And that last poem...I could almost hear it in a grandmother's voice, after so many questions. :)

There's something poignant about your image of the moon weeping. But the showers, of course, are glorious.

This made me think of a book I read some time ago by Di Morrissey titled "Tears of the Moon", in which the phrase referred to a beautiful pearl said to be a tear of the moon. It was a wonderful book. Thanks for jogging my memory!

I enjoyed both poems. The haiku's stark simplicity was beautiful. Happy Sunday, Gillena! <3

Where have they all gone - one wonders. I saw one not too long ago. It was beautiful and I wondered what soul it carried with it in the autumn breeze.
