waiting for the lid
to open breaths of freedom
once ignorance spent
suspended in time
of reflection some leave us
we mourn in deep sighs
pandemic night skies
inky dark thoughts surfacing
breath of life breathe on

Another glimpse of the strange 'new normal'!
Thanks for dropping by Rosemary

much love...
Maybe your mouth will be the only part of you that the rain doesn't touch, thanks to the mask! :)
FREEEEEdom!
Brief, true. Beautiful GC.
Both of these poems are wonderful and give illustration to the difficulties of shifting toward a different 'normal.'
Very nice! And, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird! I've alluded to the second way in a poem myself. And I too often think of it!
"I was of three minds,
Like a tree
In which there are three blackbirds."
"pandemic night skies / inky dark thoughts surfacing / breath of life breathe on" - Perfect!

Love coming to your blog to see what point of view you will share through your art.
"Run through the rain" - wish I could do that again one of these days.
Love your rain and mask haiku and the Muse poem is where so many of our heart's thoughts are right now. Lovely writing Gillena! Always happy to see you at the Muse!!
The rain and mask haiku somehow made me think of a sodden mask! I loved the poem, and I always enjoy my visits here.

I can see that first haiku so clearly, raindrops darkening the fabric, steps splashing in the rain...
Our "breaths of freedom" are so very precious.
Nice Senryū, Gillena.
..
'inky dark thoughts and dark skies' .... enjoyed the image you painted with words.

Oh yikes, hope there was a spare mask. I'd put up with a damp one if I had to, but prefer not to!

suspended in time of reflection,

There are times when we have to draw back and discover many possibilities of inroads to resolve our little problems before they become big. A good strategy Gillena!

Another silver lining to the COVID cloud...like me having to work in an isolated room, with a shoddy laptop I'm hoping to replace soon, means I've not disabled the sound and can enjoy your music links.
Thanks for your appreciation Priscilla
