Those feet on the sign will linger in mind today. They feel more watchful than not and that seems like a good balance to a song. :)

We are all stunned into silence like that blackbird, though our feet hold us calmly. I like this immensely. It's stark and true.

I like the idea that a blackbird leaves footprints on a street sign, meaning she's present even when you can't hear her! There must be blackbird footprints all over our trees!
