Past few days, I didn't see the girl in shabby clothes, always begging for money at the signal.
A lovely smile always reflected on her face, surely not washed from many days, the moment a single one rupee coin landed in her hand. So clear, it meant a world to her. On inquiring, she said, she was happy because on giving it to her mother, she will get to eat her favourite bhakri. One day I asked her, why she was not attending school. She sobbed and in a very sad voice said that her mother was sick and so not working from past one month.
And today while was I wondering how rich brats throw away things, either they don't like them or the best - worst reason being, they are bored of them, suddenly I watch that familiar smile waving at me. There she was, all set to go to school. The girl's mother, now well, managed to get her admission in a nearby local school after getting work at six households.
Yes, a smile waving, dressed in an old school uniform, was the loveliest highlights of my today's early dull, cold morning.
