But it was all so real; the squaking of the macaws, the croaking of the green tree frogs. He Anansi; thirsty, tired, wanting to faint from the exhaustion of so much walking; he looked up to the sky with a pleading kind of stare, as if asking for something from someone
His train of thought was interrupted by the sweet voice of non other than Mrs Anansi. She had gotten to that part of the song; "on the fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to meeee... five gooold rings.........four colly birds...three french hens...two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear treeeeee" .
--Meanwhile in Germany as reported by Ralf Bröker
out into the garden
a handfull
bird
--And in Trinidad and Tobago as reported by Keith Simmonds
a single mother
in frantic Christmas shopping
grabbing a toy gun
Many religious observers ascribe the five gold rings as symbolic for The Torah or Pentateuch, the first five books of the Old Testament
