The night before; in between a patter and splash of raindrops on the pavement, there arose an unusual wind. Which, not content to only ruffle Mrs. Anansi's pretty new drapes, she ruffles and weaves herself into the Anansi house, winding her way up the Anansi staircase, into the Anansi bedrooms, peering here, and peering there, until at last, reaching the room shared by Anansi and his charming wife. Here, this unusual gust, shapes herself into a giant windy hand, large enough to pick up an unsuspecting, Anansi, leaving behind, Mrs. Anansi asleep. [Excerpt from my book -  Anansi: An Unusual Experience]

Growing up, i remember folks, planting peas, corn and ochroes on Corpus Christi, they didn't wait on the Met Office to declare The Rainy Season, for them back then, this was it Corpus Christi - the start of The Rainy Season.

Corpus Christi 2012

Corpus Christi, when i was child, is the day i would hear adults acknowledge as 'The Start Of The Rainy Season' with all the vehemence of a modern day meteorologist; its the day too i got to plant pigeon peas and corn with my father.
In the religious arena, this is the day for Catholics as a pivot to all other religious observances, the focal point being the Holy Eucharist with a sub theme of the church as The Body of Christ; We Catholics are rich in terms of our liturgical observances and this day is not without its share of pomp, its a holiday here in Trinidad and Tobago and the morning is given to the Corpus Christi procession of devotees, and this year, 2012 with a new archbishop.

Corpus Christi translates to mean body of Christ, this is a public holiday in Trinidad and Tobago, The Thursday after Trinity Sunday; the folk culture sets this day aside as the start of the rainy season and a day for planting house crops like pigeon peas, corn, and hot peppers. The catholic religious sets this day aside to process through the streets praying and singing hyms in reverence to Jesus Christ who offered himself to his disciples at The Last Supper and commemorates the institution of the Holy Eucharist
